INFORMATION FOR VISITORS


 


1. How to register your name.


・If you live in the Iida-Shimoina region or work or study in the municipal area of Iida, you can use the City of Iida libraries free of charge.


・To register your name, please submit a completed form to the staff at the counter. A library card will then be issued to you.  (You will need to show some form of I.D.)


・ The card can be used at any of the Chuo, Kanae or Kamisato libraries.


・This card can also be used at Takamori ,Matsukawa Toyooka and Takagi libraries to borrow books.


 


2. How to borrow books.


・You may borrow up to ten books at a time.


・You have to return them within two weeks.


・Please take the books you want to borrow from the bookshelves and take them to the counter with your library card.


・If you are registered as a group, up to 50books per month can be borrowed.


 


 


3. How to return books.


・You may return the books at any of the 3 libraries mentioned above.


・It isn’t necessary to show your library card when returning books.


・Please return the books to the staff at the counter. (Please do not return them directly to the bookshelves.)


・If you wish to return the books when the library is closed, please place them in the ‘book drop’ near the entrance.


 


4. How to search for the books you want.


・You can search for books held in all 8 libraries by using the library computer.


・If you can’t find the book you are looking for, please contact the staff to ask for help.


・If the book you want is out on loan, or is not on the book list of the 8 libraries, you can register you request.


・You may also search for books by accessing the library homepage from your computer.


 


5. How to search for data and information.


 


・Please do not hesitate to ask the library staff for help in searching for the data and information you need.


・Various encyclopedias, dictionaries, yearbooks and back issues of newspapers are at your disposal.


・Information and materials about the Iida-Shimoina region, and Nagano Prefecture are also available.


・Internet service is also available in the library.


 


 


6. Other Services.


・Services for people with visual impairment:DAISY, Reading tapes, books in Braille and books printed in large letters are available.


・Programs for children:Book reading activities for children are held periodically.


・Copying service:You can request copies of the libraries’ materials, within the limits stipulated by Copyright law. A fee will be charged for the copies.

Apart from these three main Iida city libraries, there are 16 smaller libraries located within local community centers. For the opening times of these libraries please contact the relevant community center or Iida Chuo library.
